Coast Guard Celebrated At Third Annual Dinner

EUREKA – It’s the third year of the celebration. Thursday evening 131 men and women of the Coast Guard were saluted with a special dinner celebrating the unique relationship Eureka has with the service.

There are only 21 official Coast Guard cities in the United States and the three Eureka Rotary Clubs saluted the Coast Guard members with a steak dinner at the Elks Club on Herrick Avenue. On-duty service personnel got their meals delivered.

The Coast Guard has operated non-stop on the North Coast since 1856. The dinner was to celebrate the shared history and appreciation for what Coast Guard members do for our community; putting their life on the line for our safety. It is indeed something to be very thankful for.
