FORTUNA – The search is over. Shawn Hof Junior, the man accused of firing on a Fish and Wildlife Officer, has turned himself in to law enforcement.

CDFW and other agencies have been actively seeking Shawn Hof Junior since last August when a Game Warden witnessed a man believed to be Hof, Jr. and others spotlighting deer in Carlotta. The officer pursued their truck, and Hof, Jr. allegedly fired on the patrol vehicle as they fled.

Game wardens contacted about a dozen people with ties to the suspect as part of an expanded search. Word must have gotten out because Hof, Jr. turned himself in Thursday afternoon.

He is currently being held in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
