EUREKA – Children in need will carry a backpack full of supplies to their first day of school thanks to the generous staff at Saint Joseph Health.
For more than eight years, employees and volunteers at St. Joseph Hospital have been collecting school supplies and backpacks for kids who may not be able to purchase them on their own.
Saint Joseph Community Resource Centers will distribute them to students from Loleta to Willow Creek.
Registered Nurse and former special education teacher Donna Valle donated 102 of the total 160 backpacks. Valle said it’s important for kids to be excited to start the year.
