Arcata Fire District remembers those who gave their lives on 9/11

ARCATA – Local firefighters came together to honor fellow first responders who gave their lives in service of others on September 11th.
It’s often been said that while many were evacuating the World Trade Center sixteen years ago, firefighters and others ran towards the danger to save survivors.
At Humboldt State, Arcata Fire personnel climbed 110 flights of stairs at Cypress Hall to honor that heroism and bravery. They wore the number 343 on their air tanks, representing how many rescue personnel died that day.
Battalion Chief Sean Campbell said it’s important that the community never forgets that sacrifice.
