Dead body found in Trinity River

HOOPA – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identity a dead body that was found in the Trinity River.

Officers found the body Monday, but because of the condition, have not been able to use fingerprints to determine who the victim was.

They did not find signs of intentional injury, but believe he drowned and was in the river for two to three weeks.

The man was six feet tall, had short reddish brown hair, a moustache and is estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old.

When they found him, he was wearing grey Avia shorts, Romeo boots and a SKMEI brand watch.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

Anyone with more information should contact Deputy Coroner Charles Van Buskirk at 707-268-3755.
