Security National offers to buy vacant NCRA building in exchange for balloon track considerations

EUREKA – The fate of a long vacant building in Old Town Eureka may be decided soon.
The structure at 2nd and A Streets owned by North Coast Rail Authority caught fire numerous times in the last year. NCRA staff says the city threatened to fine the Authority if it doesn’t remove or repair the building.
At Wednesday’s monthly meeting, the board of directors heard a proposal from Rob Arkley’s Security National that would see it demolished or refurbished in exchange for relinquishment of the authority’s easements on the balloon track.
The report was informational only. The chairman said the board has received other offers and expects to take action at next month’s meeting.
