Convicted felon with gun hijacks bike, car

EUREKA – Eureka police are on the lookout for a man considered armed and dangerous who hijacked a bike and a car at gun point.

Police were pulling over a DUI suspect in the Bayshore Mall parking lot Sunday evening just before 7PM when a passenger got out and fled on foot.

He ran through the mall to the rear and once outside pulled a gun out at a woman and took her bike.

He then rode the bike through the parking lot before, with gun in hand, demanding a woman’s silver Ford Focus Sedan.

Neither woman was hurt.

The DUI suspect driver, 44-year-old John Anthony Vella, was arrested and two guns were found in the vehicle.

The stolen car was found Monday on Hammond Trail.

The outstanding suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
