Man injured after crashing into fire hydrant in Eureka

EUREKA – A man sustains injuries after colliding with a fire hydrant on Broadway in a suspected DUI crash.

The collision took place outside of a Patriot Gas Station just across from Eureka’s Comfort Inn after 7PM Tuesday.

The man, 32-year-old Bruce Patterson of Eureka, was driving a Ford SUV when he veered off the roadway, striking the hydrant and causing the vehicle to flip on its side.

He was arrested for DUI and had no driver’s license or insurance.

He’s currently receiving treatment for moderate injuries at Saint Joesph Hospital.
