Native plants benefit Humboldt County

ARCATA – Over 100 community members came out today to purchase plants native to Humboldt County.

The California Native Plant Society had their fall sale today with over 150 plant species available for purchase. North Coast chapter president, Carol Ralph, says there are many benefits to having native plants in your yard, such as establishing native habitats with food and native vegetation. She says most of our native plants can also be used for food and medicine, plus they grow here naturally making them much easier to care for.

Their next native plant sale will be in the spring along with their wildflower show. If you want to get involved or hear more information check out the North Coast Chapter of the California Native Plant Society on Facebook.
