Yurok tribe members share living traditions

McKinleyville, Ca., (KIEM)- For more than thirty years “Sumeg Village Days” have brought members of the Yurok Tribe to Patrick’s Point State Park to share their culture with guests.

From cooking acorns in traditional baskets, to wearing dresses made of shells, the Yurok traditions are vibrant and very much alive. This event helps one generation to expose the next to a way of life that easily fades from view in the face of mainstream culture.
