Self-Defense class empowers women at HSU

They refer to it as an insurance policy they hope you’ll never have to use.

50 women gathered at the University Center at Humboldt State University today to participate in a self-defense class. The event was put on by student affairs who say they believe every woman can benefit from having self-defense skills. The class was free and open, not only to students and staff, but the public as well. The women learned many skills that would help them protect themselves in the instance of an attack.

Heather Wiswell came up from Bridgeville to take this class and says that woman have a lot of power and it’s good for them to know how to use it. Wiswell now wants to bring a self-defense class like this to Bridgeville for the women there.
