Cell service disruption causes challenges for local law enforcement

HUMBOLDT/MENDOCINO – Due to fires and downed power lines, cell service and internet has been disrupted for many North Coast residents and law enforcement.

AT&T customers have been without service, which has caused some issues for local police.

According to the Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services, dispatchers were receiving calls but were having difficulty transferring to other agencies.

No 911 dispatch centers are down in Humboldt at this time, but earlier on Monday just before noon, the Arcata Police Department reported their 911 center was down for about an hour.

They had it back up by about 1PM, and are confident they didn’t miss any major emergencies as their main office line was still available.
