McKinleyville cancels varsity football for health concerns

MCKINLEYVILLE- McKinleyville High School has made the decision to cancel the rest of the varsity football season because of health and safety concerns.

Last week, the Panthers missed their homecoming parade and conference game against Fortuna because of something they did off the field.

According to the school, members of the Panthers varsity football team wrote homophobic and racial slurs on a whiteboard in the locker room.

McKinleyville still had four games remaining. They plan to have the program back for the 2018 season.
