Jacoby Creek honored as National Blue Ribbon School

BAYSIDE – Jacoby Creek in Bayside received a national award and joined an exclusive list of schools in the process.
Out of more than 7,000 eligible sites, Jacoby Creek was one of only twenty-four National Blue Ribbon Schools in California and the only one in Humboldt County.
The award recognized the school’s extensive community involvement as well as its achievement in learning.
Principal Melanie Nannizzi said Jacoby Creek is proud to receive the honor and wants to build on this success.
“The feeling of pride motivates you to keep doing well and set a good example for what a public education can look like so I think that for all of us it’s very motivating to be recognized in this way,” Nannizzi said.
Though Congressman Jared Huffman wasn’t able to attend as planned, he sent this message of support. “Congratulations to Jacoby Creek Elementary School for the high honor of being selected as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School,” said Rep. Huffman. “This achievement is due to a lot of hard work on the part of the Jacoby’s amazing students and their families, and the staff, administrators, and supportive extended community. I look forward to seeing the school continue their legacy of academic excellence, while also continuing to foster students who are kind, productive, and considerate citizens.”
