Steve Watson officially sworn in as EPD Chief

EUREKA – It’s official! Stephen Watson is now Chief of the Eureka Police Department.
Watson has been serving as Interim Chief since Andrew Mills left the department in July.
At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, the new chief took the oath of office in front of friends, family, and members of the department.
Watson said he’s humbled by the honor and that he’s grateful for the community’s support. He added that it will take everyone working side-by-side to address the city’s challenges. He even made ‘Team Eureka’ t-shirts to share with staff and council members. Mostly, Watson said he’s excited to get to work.
“I’m very grateful and appreciative of the trust that’s been put in me,” Chief Watson said. “I don’t take it lightly. At the same time, I’m invigorated by the opportunity to lead and to serve at a higher level and do some good for our community.”
