Humboldt County Supervisors to distribute funds for special districts

EUREKA – Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will vote to make 1.5 million dollars’ worth of budget adjustments Tuesday, and will take public comment on establishing budgets for individual special districts, including local fire protection agencies.

In the 2016-17 budget, funding was allocated for various projects and equipment, but due to unforeseen circumstances was unused during that time.

With the Carry Forward budget adjustments that total above 1.5 million dollars, those funds will now go towards paying for services such as web based permitting software for the Planning and Building Department to be in line with industry standards, as well as towards paying for vehicles and firearms for the Sheriff’s Office that were not received due to shipping delays.

Also during their meeting Tuesday, Supervisors will open the floor to the public to gather opinions on revenue distribution between districts such as the Fortuna Fire District, Loleta Fire District, and Whitethorn Fire District, among other special districts governed by the county.

A list of those districts can be found, here: https://humboldt.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx

To make your voice heard, you can attend the supervisors’ meeting Tuesday morning at 9AM in the Humboldt County Courthouse Board Chambers.
