Chris Hartley announces campaign for full term as Humboldt County Superintendent

EUREKA – He was appointed to the job in February, and Thursday, Chris Hartley officially announced his campaign to seek a full term as Superintendent of Humboldt County Schools.
The Board of Education appointed Hartley to the position following Doctor Garry Eagles’ early retirement.
At Thursday’s campaign kickoff, Hartley said being Superintendent is the best job he’s ever had. He added that, if elected, he will work to recruit and retain teachers and develop partnerships to support programs like career education.
Hartley said, “Students are our number one priority in Humboldt County and my experience advocating locally, regionally and at the state level is important, and I also think it’s important for voters to understand that we have got a lot of great work that’s moving forward. I’ve been in the position for the last seven months and come June of ’18 it just makes sense to continue that momentum going forward.”
No other candidate has filed to challenge Hartley. The race will be decided as part of the statewide primary next June.
