City employees spend off day beautifying Eureka

EUREKA – A few city employees spent their day off to clean up Eureka’s waterfront.
Eureka Police Communications Dispatcher Brianna Averille said she hears a lot of calls regarding crime and safety issues near Halvorsen Park, so she decided to do something about it.
Averille organized a clean up with volunteers from the department and Humboldt Bay Fire staff.
They cleaned the grime off the Sacco Amphitheater and picked up trash in the park and along Waterfront Drive.
Averille said it takes the whole community to make Eureka a better place to live.
