Zane Middle School students show off Halloween garb at costume parade and contest

EUREKA – Halloween isn’t just about trick or treating. Students at Zane Middle School showed off their costumes at the annual parade & contest.
There were too many costumes to count as dinosaurs, nerds and a taco marched around the lawn while Michael Jackson’s Thriller played.
The judges had to make some hard choices when deciding best superhero, scariest and most original costume.
And since the school is celebrating healthy living week, students won sports equipment for prizes.
School Counselor Trevor Hammons said the parade and contest are part of building a positive environment for kids to learn.
Hammons said, “It’s important to have those healthy, fun interactions on campus so the school is a fun place where kids want to be. And it seems to work pretty well here.”
