Two pediatrics offices to close by year’s end

EUREKA – Another North Coast medical provider will be closing its doors due to a lack of physicians.
Eureka Pediatrics has been treating infants, children, and teens for more than fifty years, but that will end December 31 when the practice will dissolve.
Current patients have been told that the practice’s three MDs and two Nurse Practitioners intend to stay in the area, and staff are helping find alternatives for families in need of a doctor.
A statement released by the Partners of Eureka Pediatrics said factors leading to this decision were complicated but “the most significant has been our inability to recruit physicians. We went from nine providers to just five providers in a very short timeframe which has forced us to realize that our model of a private practice pediatric group is no longer viable.”
Staff said they are working with Open Door Community Health on solutions and hope to know more by Thanksgiving.
