Drivers, pedestrians urged to use caution after boy in crosswalk hit by car

EUREKA – A young boy was injured when he was struck by a car as he crossed the street after school.
A witness told officers that around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, the boy darted in to the crosswalk on S Street in front of Zane Middle School.
He was hit by a sedan driving southbound at slow speed and was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries to his face. He is expected to recover.
Officers advise drivers to slow down in rainy weather, check your wiper blades and turn on headlights.
Law enforcement officers urge pedestrians to use caution as well. Look both ways when you cross the street and make sure your vision isn’t obstructed by a hood or umbrella.
