Patrick O’Neill officially promoted to Captain of Eureka Police Department

EUREKA – Interim no more. Patrick O’Neill has officially been promoted to Captain of the Eureka Police Department.
A lifelong Eureka resident O’Neill has served with the department since 19-95… First as an officer then he rose through the ranks as a Field Training Officer, Drug Task Force Agent and Detective Sergeant.
His history with the department extends beyond that. O’Neill wears the same badge number as his grandfather James who was also a Captain with EPD in the 1950’s.
O’Neill takes over for Chief Watson and will cover Eureka’s business district.
“The hope is just what every police officer wants to do is to make things a little bit better,” O’Neill said. He continued, “I’m getting calls from my area and getting to know the business owners, find out what their concerns are and working with our POP team and our patrol division to improve on those concerns.”
