Trinidad adopts cannabis prohibitions, endorses local group’s efforts to protect Strawberry Rock

TRINIDAD – The Trinidad City Council has adopted its cannabis ordinance ahead of state laws that take effect next year.
The ordinance prohibits commercial cannabis activities including sales and manufacturing in town.
It also limits personal cultivation to indoor areas and lays out a permit and fee structure to do so.
And council expressed unanimous approved a letter of support for the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust’s efforts to preserve a popular hiking trail located on Green Diamond property.
At Wednesday night’s meeting, Land Trust representatives stressed that the letter was not a commitment of financial resources only an endorsement of the effort to purchase easements that would preserve Strawberry Rock, a surrounding trail and a twenty-four acre redwood grove for public use.
The Land Trust has one more year to raise funds for the project before the owners will consider other options including timber harvest of the grove.
