Giving Blood on Thanksgiving Week

Loleta, Ca., (KIEM)- The season of giving has arrived, and in Loleta an opportunity to give rolled into town on four wheels. The simple, white, Northern California Community Blood Bank Blood-Mobile was open on Main Street to collect donations.

“This community is so generous, and we just want folks as they get busy for the holidays just to keep in mind that they can give the gift of life by donating blood.” John Gullam, the director of donor resources explains, “With the holiday it’s a short week so, the more folks we can have donate on the days we are open the better.”
Gullam also stresses, the most valuable unit of blood is the one already on the shelf. In other words, the unit that’s already available to use. Keeping shelves stocked, so to speak, can be a challenge year round. Taking the opportunity to give whenever you can, Gullam says, is essential.
If you’d like to take the opportunity over the holiday week here’s a list of locations/times when you can spot the drop, and drop by the blood-mobile:
Wednesday:
8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Eureka Mall, 800 W. Harris Street
8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Safeway in Arcata, 600 F. Street
8:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. Safeway in McKinleyville, 1555 City Center Road
Friday:
1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Safeway in Fortuna, 701 S. Fortuna Blvd.
