Hosting Thanksgiving for the Homeless

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Betty Chinn says she’s thankful for the support, and the opportunity to show people that they are loved. Tonight, Chinn’s Foundation (the Betty Kwonn Chinn Homeless Foundation), hosted a Holiday Meal free of charge in Eureka.

Pie, Turkey, and other Thanksgiving staples were served by volunteers of all ages, and Chinn says virtually everything was donated by community partners. What makes the meal valuable? Chinn says its about more than filling stomachs.

“We want to let the people know we love them and we’re thinking about them. This is not a good season for the homeless.” She explains, “It can be a tough time for them, but knowing somebody loves them, somebody cares for them, maybe it can help them… emotionally.”
