Humboldt County election results certified

EUREKA – Humboldt County’s election results are officially certified.
Though results haven’t changed since election night, November 7, it takes weeks to finalize the count after votes are cast.
First, staff check to ensure ballots from individual polling places match tallies on voting machines before verifying signatures.
Then officials scan and count remaining vote by mail ballots. State law also requires a manual count of at least 1% of all votes cast.
And unique to Humboldt County, volunteers with the non-profit Transparency Project double checked all of the data to ensure the accuracy of the vote, and the numbers matched up.
Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder, Registrar of Voters Kelly Sanders said, “I think it’s really reassuring to the voters of Humboldt County to know that there’s an independent audit performed separate from the elections department. We work very closely together. We like having the Transparency Project involved so I think it’s a great relationship.”
