Black Friday Re-cap

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- According to the National Retail Federation, more than 164 million Americans plan to shop the weekend of Thanksgiving. A whopping 70% are hitting the stores for the country’s unofficial retail holiday, Black Friday.

For many, the day means camping outside of big box stores to rake in the prime promotions. For others, door buster deals are overrated.

“There’s no need to like come here really early in the morning… everything was still here, we’ll sleep in and have our breakfast.” A young shopper told News Channel 3.

At the Bayshore Mall in Eureka there was steady foot traffic, and even by noon Target had a stuffed parking lot.

Black Friday has acquired a shaky reputation over time. Praised by shoppers who love to scoop up savings, rolling in at midnight or as early as 5:00 or 6:00 a.m., the frenzy is cursed by others who think the holiday should be spent at home. Some shoppers even find some promo codes online and use them to make their black friday shopping even cheaper!

One bargain hunter, Patrick Haenni, told News Channel 3, the shopping is actually a chance to bring your family together. It’s a moment to get out of the house. Seeing people out and about is better, he says than mining for gifts on the internet.
