ARCATA- Humboldt State football has been around for 90 years and isn’t going anywhere. In front of a large gathering Tuesday afternoon at Redwood Bowl, school President Lisa Rossbacher made the long awaited announcement.

Rossbacher told the crowd, “This is a good day for our football team, and a good day for Humboldt State.”

Rossbacher was joined by Jim Redd who helped lead the booster fund drive along with many other volunteers. To balance the budget, they are committed to $500,000 for each season for the next five years.

Rossbacher told News Channel 3 the decision wasn’t made until Monday.

Head coach Rob Smith is thankful HSU football was saved and will be back next season and into the future. Now it’s up to him and the coaching staff to hit the recruiting trail and re-tool a Lumberjacks team that is coming off an 8-2 campaign.
