$50,000 Donated to Klamath Boys and Girls Club

Klamath, Ca., (KIEM)- The Klamath Boys and Girls Club was created by a partnership between the Yurok tribe and the Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods. The program serves both tribal and non-tribal youth, and today it got a major boost.

The Simpson Family Fund donated $50,000 to the program. The Simpson Family owns Green Diamond Resource Company. The company president, Douglas Reed, was present at a special ceremony Wednesday at 2 p.m.

“These funds will go a long way toward improving the lives of all young people in the community,” said Ryan Ray, the Yurok Tribal Council’s Requa Representative. Ray has been a supporter of the new Boys and Girls club in Klamath from the start.

The club facility has pool tables, workout stations and a video gaming area, all meant to help young people in the small Klamath community to connect with one another. The club itself is committed to promoting healthy living and good character for local youth.
