EPD: 18-year-old’s death being investigated as a homicide

EUREKA – The suspicious death of a Eureka teenager last December is now being investigated as a homicide.
Officers found 18-year-old Jennika Lee Suazo dead in her home on the 300 block of P Street on December 9, 2016.
Police began an investigation into her death that involved questioning twenty-two others at the residence.
In June, an autopsy determined asphyxia as the cause of death.
Results from a DNA test are still pending. Further details from the crime scene are not being released at this time as EPD says this is still an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call law enforcement.
At a vigil a few days after her death, friends and family remembered Jennika as a bright light who brought a smile to everyone’s face.
She would have graduated from Zoe Barnum in January of this year.
Those who loved her said Jennika wanted to pursue a career in nursing, and her death has left a hole in her family and community.
