Humboldt County roadways see snow, drivers asked to slow down

HIGHWAY 299 – Some Humboldt County roads are seeing snow.

It’s beginning to look a lot like a Christmas on Highway 299 at Berry Summit Vista Point, about ten miles west of Willow Creek.

While Caltrans hasn’t made chains mandatory in the area yet, they want you to be prepared and remind you that you must stop and put on chains when highway signs indicate, and speed limits in those areas are a strict 25 to 30 mph.

For road conditions and details on the latest chain control mandates, you can call 1-800-GAS-ROAD or visit Caltrans online, here: http://www.dot.ca.gov/d1/
