Retiring Humboldt County Correctional Sergeant will continue to volunteer

EUREKA, CA. – A Humboldt County Correctional Sergeant is calling it a career.

Sergeant Mitch Gratz will retire this month, after about thirty years at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

He was hired in 1988 and saw the Humboldt County Jail through years of transitions and challenges.

Even as he heads into retirement, Gratz plans to continue dedicating time as an extra help deputy.

Sheriff William Honsal and those at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office say they are thankful for Grat’z service.
