Dealing with Grief During the Holidays

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Grieving at any time during the year is difficult, but at a time when people are especially focused on friends and family, loss can be felt that much more poignantly. That’s why Hospice of Humboldt wants community members to know it’s okay to grieve and approach the season in the way that feels most right.

For some, it’s easiest to shut off during the holidays. To unplug and burrow in. That’s fine, and it’s important councilors say to respect loved ones who approach grief that way. For others, being around people is the most important thing. Love, support, and closeness to remaining friends can be invaluable.
