Humboldt County Supervisors to consider Headwaters Grant Fund distribution

EUREKA, CA. – Humboldt County Supervisors are scheduled to consider the distribution of $75,000 in grant money for Sequoia Park Zoo and small business programs, through the Headwaters Grant Fund.

The Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation is slated for $30,000 towards a feasibility study for a Native Predator Zone and Redwood Canopy Walk project – which would allow visitors a chance to walk along the tops of towering Redwoods.

Another $20,000 is recommended for the Nor-Cal Procurement Technical Assistance Center in organizing a Small Business Expo.

Also for consideration, $25,000 may be granted to the North Coast Small Business Development Center, to benefit their business succession program.

If the board approves these grants, staff will contact the applicants to prepare contracts.

Also during their meeting Tuesday, Medical Marijuana Ad Hoc Committee, made of Supervisors Estelle Fennell and Ryan Sundberg, will update the board on their findings related to cannabis cultivation, licensing and taxation issues.

The meeting begins 9AM in Humboldt County Courthouse Board Chambers.
