ARCATA, CA. – Arcata honors the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior with a celebration to benefit local youth.
People gathered at the Arcata Community Center Monday evening to commemorate King for the 18th annual Bowl of Beans benefit fundraiser.
Choirs sang, dinner was served, and raffle prizes donated from local businesses.
With proceeds going to Arcata Recreation’s Youth Development Scholarship Fund for the Arts, and Arcata Elementary School’s art program – the event remembers the past, while investing in our future.
“Find an organization that you’re passionate about, and volunteer. Find an event that’s near and dear to you to support. That’s the way that we can support Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of unity and community,” said Arcata Elementary PTO, Melissa Lizan.
