Felon attempts to swallow heroin while being booked into Humboldt County Jail

EUREKA, CA. – An incoming Humboldt County jail inmate attempts to swallow heroin.

A correctional deputy saw the suspect remove an item from her bra, and acted quickly.

32-year-old Michele Kay Banda was being processed into the jail when Deputy Avila-Perez called in assistance, as the woman was “unwilling to give up suspected contraband.”

Banda then tried to swallow the bag of suspected heroin, and bit and kicked deputies before spitting it out.

Banda was originally arrested by Arcata police Tuesday on charges of felony child endangerment, violation of probation, and possession of meth.

Charges were added on to include possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
