Humboldt County leaders, community members discuss combating drug-related crime

FIELDBROOK ELEMENTARY – Community comes together to talk crime prevention with Humboldt County leaders.

Sheriff William Honsal, Supervisor Sundberg, and District Attorney Maggie Fleming spoke with the public Wednesday night at a meeting revolving drug-related crime.

Residents brought up issues such as vehicle and house break-ins, and drug houses on the rise.

In response, the county says they’re working to implement crime mapping tools to visualize areas were these incidents are increasing.

Members of the public were also encouraged to actively take part in community safety, by organizing Neighborhood Watch programs.

“We’ve had a lot of success with these programs,” explained Deputy Kevin Miller.
