Wanted man arrested in Eureka with drugs, loaded firearm

EUREKA, CA. – A man wanted by Eureka police for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and terrorist threats is in custody.

27-year-old Jared Randell Nelson was spotted by a Deputy Saturday evening at 5:45, driving a black Volkswagen on Broadway with a female passenger.

As Nelson pulled into a gas station, the deputy followed and detained him.

2.4 grams of heroin and 1.3 grams of meth were found in Nelson’s underwear.

Inside the passengers purse, a revolver was located – she said Nelson had asked her to hide it there when he saw the deputy behind them.

Nelson was booked on EPD’s charges, as well as for being in possession of a controlled substance, while armed with a loaded firearm.
