Apprehended in Arcata: Man Wanted for Car Theft, Hit-and-Run in Custody

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM)- A man wanted for stealing a car in eureka is now in police custody.

An officer with the Arcata police department recognized Blaine Gingerich travelling on a bicycle at around 1:00 this morning.

According to officers… Gingerich took off on foot toward Anina way. Officers were able to surround him and place Gingerich under arrest.

He had an outstanding warrant for probation violation, driving a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run. After the incident Saturday Gingerich faces additional charges for possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and possession of a slungshot or striking weapon.
