City of Arcata seeks public input on cannabis policies

ARCATA, CA. – There are growing pains in California’s legal marijuana business.

Many of those now licensed to sell cannabis are complaining the state isn’t doing enough to manage growers and stop illegal sales. While it is legal for the licensed shops to sell and grow marijuana strains like Blue Dream, there are still numerous people growing and selling weed illegally.

The number of illegal marijuana sellers is effecting the licensed shops as there aren’t as many customers coming to them for their marijuana. They argue that because there is now a legal way to grow and distribute weed, there should be more done to crack down on illegal sales.

Now, the city of Arcata wants public input as it drafts new policies and sets regulations on legal cannabis sales and services.

Arcata city officials have created an online questionnaire where you can discuss several issues, among them – where legal cannabis should be sold, should on-site smoking be allowed and should marijuana use be regulated at public events and festivals.
