Coffee with a Congressman: Crescent City constituents converse

CRESCENT CITY, CA. – A casual conversation with a congressman – Friday, community members in Crescent City gathered to chat with their congressional representative – North Coast Congressman Jared Huffman.

Coffee with a Congressman was created to allow an atmosphere where constituents can talk freely about important matters to them.

A focus on Friday was put on how to protect our communities following recent gun violence – with ideas ranging from potential gun regulations, to arming teachers in classrooms.

Finding consensus is challenging, but communication is key.

“It’s a pretty intimate conversation that I just had with fifty of sixty of my constituents and I think it gives them a chance to have direct access to their representative in Congress to say what’s on their mind and ask questions. And it gives me a chance to hear directly from people and get outside of Washington and talk to the people I represent,” said Congressman Huffman, “I love it. It was a free ranging conversation, a lot of give and take, and we covered a lot of ground.”
