Humboldt County Takes a Stand Against Off-Shore Drilling

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- On April 28th, President Trump signed an executive order that opened previously untapped or off-limits stretches of the Pacific Coast up to drilling for oil and gas.

The move was met by a proposal from Humboldt County Supervisor Mike Wilson. He brought a resolution to the board, that would take a stand against off-shore drilling on the North Coast.

The resolution establishes a precedent. Essentially creating a frame-work for future legislation related to exploration and off-shore drilling in the area. After brief public comment, the resolution was brought to a vote.

It would pass unanimously.
