Body found in Orleans house fire

ORLEANS- A body is found in the ashes of a home that was burned last week. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office says an autopsy is being performed.

The night of March 1, deputies and the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire on Eych Mine Road in the Orleans area, near Somes Bar. When they arrived, the home was engulfed.

After the flames were out, a body was found inside. The coroner hopes to identify the body with the autopsy.

The sheriff’s office said the cause of the fire isn’t known, but foul play is not suspected.
