Humboldt County Jail inmate allegedly attacks correctional officer

EUREKA, CA. – An inmate in the maximum security unit of the Humboldt County Jail is now charged with assaulting a correctional officer.

26-year-old Cameron Jared Johnson allegedly stabbed a guard in the neck and face with a pencil Sunday night.

It happened when Johnson was out in the day room.

The guard was able to subdue him until help arrived.

Both had minor injuries.

Johnson is now charged with assault on a custodial officer, assault on a custodial officer with a deadly weapon, and probation violation.
