HSU Police assist ABC agents in underage drinking operation

ARCATA/MCKINLEYVILLE, CA. – A statewide crackdown on underage drinking winds up with arrests here in our area.

Humboldt State University Police joined officers from more than 70 other law enforcement agencies, as well as state Alcoholic Beverage Control agents for undercover operations.

The ABC had a teenager stand outside liquor and convenience stores, then ask people if they would buy him alcohol – while admitting he was underage.

If they did, they were cited or arrested.

Locally, Humboldt State officers joined an ABC agent and other officers, visiting numerous places that sell alcohol in Arcata and McKinleyville.

One person was cited for providing alcohol to a minor, and two others were arrested on numerous charges.

Statewide more than 350 people were cited or arrested, including 286 people for allegedly providing alcohol to a minor.
