Two Eureka felons arrested with drugs, stolen car from Oregon

EUREKA, CA. – A tip about a stolen car leads Eureka police to arrest two wanted felons.

The police department says it got a call Tuesday afternoon about a stolen Toyota spotted near Mccullen Avenue and Broadway.

The Camry had been reported stolen from Medford, Oregon and police pulled it over near Mccullen and Nevada Street.

They detained the driver, 44-year-old Carl Keeler, and his passenger, 28-year-old Cara Chmieleswki, both of Eureka.

Officers discovered the driver had a felony warrant and the passenger originally gave a fake name, but was ultimately found to have three felony warrants.

Police also say they found meth and heroin on the front seat.

Keeler now faces a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, in addition to his felony parole warrant.

Chmielewski had felony warrants for forgery, burglary and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Her new charges are possession of a controlled substance, giving a false name, and probation violation.
