MCKINLEYVILLE, CA. – Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay aids in the removal of millions of dollars’ worth in cocaine, before being illegally imported.

The crew has now made their return home from the counterdrug deployment after 77 days.

A Humboldt Bay Coast Guard Dolphin helicopter and crew were used in the Eastern Pacific Ocean mission, in which they assisted the Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron, as they searched for vessels suspected of smuggling narcotics.

Between 17 separate interceptions, crews seized about 36,000 pounds of cocaine, worth approximately $539,000,000 – and in doing so, keeping that amount of the dangerous substance off the community’s streets.
