Eureka trail to close temporarily on Wednesday

EUREKA- A popular trail will be closed temporarily, so that city officials can burn off vegetation that’s threatening part of Palco Marsh.

The Eureka Waterfront Trail will be closed between Trusdale to Del Norte from 8-am until 5-pm on Wednesday.

The city is trying to get rid of a plant that’s been overtaking the southern part of Palco Marsh. The Humboldt Bay Fire department will perform a one-and-a-half acre vegetation burn west of the foot of Vigo Street.

Depending on how successful it is, there may be future chemical spraying or more vegetation burns.
