More Medical Construction in Fortuna: Groundbreaking at Redwood Memorial

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- There will soon be even more construction in the friendly city, as another medical care facility is set to go up in the Eel River valley. Tuesday, St. Joseph Health hosted a ground breaking at Redwood Memorial Hospital, for their Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility.

The brand new 12,000 foot hospital wing will provide occupational, speech and physical therapy for patients who require attentive care. After dignitaries and hospital executives donned hard hats and took up shovels, construction is beginning on 10 private patient rooms and a 7,000 square foot gym.

Currently St. Joseph Health’s Acute inpatient rehabilitation program ranks in the top 1% nationally. Over 10,000 people have gone through the treatment course since the 1980s. The current facility in eureka will be closed because the building no longer meets seismic safety standards.
