Arcata Police Chief resigns after over two decades with the department

ARCATA, CA. – The veteran chief of the Arcata Police Department abruptly resigns.

Chapman turned in his resignation to Arcata’s City Manager, ending his 24 years with the city.

His resignation letter did not give a specific reason for his decision.

City manager Karen Deimer says Chapman had recently talked of leaving due to personal and career reasons.

Diemer says she’ll have more on an interim chief next week.

She says in the meantime, lieutenants will rotate as acting chief, as they’ve done in the past in Chapman’s absence.
